Having two children of my own, I know and understand the importance of having a positive, child-focused “first impression” dental experience. Too many of us grew up dreading dental visits.  I wanted something completely different for my children and the children I treat everyday. I wanted my patients to be cared for in a state of the art, specialized, child-centered atmosphere. I also wanted my patients to look forward to coming to their dental visits and to grow up taking an active role in that experience.

I am a southern Wisconsin native and grew up on a small farm. After high school, I attended Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska. I completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and went on to Creighton’s school of dentistry. It was a busy time as I balanced post-graduated training, married my “college sweetheart” Carol and we began our family with the birth of our daughter, Elizabeth.

I graduated dental school with honors and went to work for NIH (National Institute of Health) in an externship research program with the Department of Epidemiology and Oral Disease Prevention Program in Washington DC. Following my work at NIH, I went on to pursue my primary interest and received a specialized degree in pediatric dentistry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. There I completed a fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Sedation, Special Needs Patient Management, and Hospital Dentistry. We lived in Cincinnati for 2 years and completed our family with the addition of our daughter, Sarah.

I joined First Impressions in 1998 and I have enjoyed making my dreams, and the goals of my fellow practitioners, a reality. I remain active in many professional organizations and am committed to remaining current in the latest advanced in my profession. I travel extensively and attend many Continuing Education classes and seminars. I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have gathered through presentations to organizations on topics regarding orthodontics, cleft palate patient management, syndromes, sedation, and numbers of other pediatric issues. I have presented locally as well as internationally and have recognized by the Consumer Research Council of America as “America’s Top Dentist” in 2007. I am a passionate advocate for children and their oral health experience.

Every day, at First Impressions, we see children’s faces light up as they enter the doorway to our play area. Every day we see children letting go of fear and gaining self-confidence as they meet our staff members and begin their dental experience with our office. I encourage you to take an office tour through our web site, and I think you’ll agree that we’ve met our goal of creating a pediatric and orthodontic office dedicated to offering excellent, specialized care for each child we treat.

In an effort to further my education, I remain active in the
