“Privately owned clinic excited to call downtown Medford home”
Downtown Medford will soon have its own pediatric dental and orthodontic clinic.
First Impressions Dentistry and Orthodontics is a privately owned Wausau based dental group dedicated to serving children with the most up-to-date dental care available.
Renovations on the Medford clinic at 124 S. Main Street should be completed by July of 2009. “Our team liked the idea of renovating an existing building in the downtown community rather than putting up a new building,” says First Impression’s lead dentist on the project, Dr. Tom Turner.
When asked why the dental group chose Medford to expand Dr. Turner explains, “Medford feels like home. I grew up on a farm in southern Wisconsin. Most of my dental team has small town roots and we feel quality dental care should be just as accessible to small communities as it is in larger cities.”
“Home” is a word First Impressions dentists use often to describe the bright, child friendly surroundings of their other dental clinics located in Wausau, Rhinelander and Stevens Point. “It’s important to establish a dental home for children early on. It takes the fear out of going to the dentist for both the parents and the kids. Believe me parents are often more afraid of going to the dentist than the kids because of bad dental experiences when they were young,” says Dr. Turner.
First Impressions also believes in caring for underprivileged children. “I think our small town values are at work here too because income should not determine whether children get quality dental care,” says Turner.
First Impressions believes tough economic times calls for innovative thinking. “We’re doing our part to respond to patient needs,” says Dr. Turner. “Parents who must pay out of pocket are given special consideration. We have interest free payment options and easy payment plans to help them keep their child’s regular dental appointments.”
For the underprivileged, First Impressions is one of few privately owned clinics serving Medicaid patients. “Waiting lines are long in public clinics. Our clinic works on a very efficient system, eliminating the frustrations of long waits. Medicaid patients can call us directly and our staff will immediately handle everything,” says Dr. Turner.
First Impressions’ ads say they are “Tooth Fairy approved.” The allusive creature was not available for comment but you’ll have the opportunity to check out the claim this summer when she visits various summer events in Medford.
